Ways to Prevent Leg Swelling This Summer

Blending with people is one of the most important skills to have, especially if you are in an unfamiliar environment or if you want to make new friends. Whether you’re going to a wedding, joining your coworkers at happy hour, or spending time with your significant other’s friends and family, knowing how to blend with people will help you feel more comfortable and confident in social situations, which will help make you appear more friendly and approachable to those around you. As well as help you find common ground with those around you.
Blending tips
In many ways, blending is a personal preference. You know yourself better than anyone else; you’ll have a sense of what fits your life and what doesn’t. But here are some general tips that can help you decide how to blend.
The basic rule of blending is to not be weird. Be honest, be yourself, and do what works for you. If it’s a social environment that has rules or decorum, follow them. But don’t think you have to follow norms just because they exist; there are people in every group who bend those rules all of the time and get away with it. You can get along by being like them if that’s your style, if not, simply don’t do anything too outlandish or strange. Remember: if people judge you as awkward or weird, they might overlook your good qualities while focusing on your shortcomings.
What if you see someone you know?
First and foremost, don’t panic. Pretend you’re busy reading a text message on your phone or glancing at your watch, and avoid eye contact until they pass. If you have time, it’s helpful to nod in their direction and make a sound if you can do so without being noticed. Don’t engage them or say anything, just a slight nod will do.
If you don’t want to acknowledge someone you know, keep in mind that he or she probably won’t draw attention by acknowledging you either. He or she might be just as concerned about being noticed as you are. However, if they’re keen on striking up a conversation and starting a conversation out of nowhere is a challenge for them, then it might be safe to initiate contact.
What if they call your name?
There are a few simple things you can do that will help your name not stick out. The most important thing is to always let people know what your name is, even if it’s just in casual conversation. This way, you will begin to be associated with that name. Additionally, don’t assume that everyone already knows who you are (you might be surprised). Introduce yourself when necessary and then make sure people get used to calling you by your name from there on out.
What if you are having a bad day?
It’s normal for people to be interested in you and want to get to know you better. However, if you’re having a bad day or just not feeling up for socializing, you don’t have to put on a happy face. Instead, simply explain that you aren’t feeling well and then politely excuse yourself from conversation. If people ask what is wrong or try pushing their way into your space while you are attempting social interaction, walk away without saying anything.
What if they ask a question?
You're bound to make small talk at some
point in any social situation, whether it's at a party or over a cubicle wall. Don't stress about what you're going to say! You can handle most common questions like What do you do? or Do you know so-and-so? with ease. And if that still leaves you feeling stumped, try using one of these common answers.
How should I act around famous people? No matter who you're talking to, it's always a good idea to be yourself and remember that they're just like you. So don't try too hard to impress them! Even if they are very important, they won't take notice of every little thing you do. Just relax and have fun. How should I deal with rude people? When faced with a rude person, there's not much that can really be done except walk away or say something nice in return.
What if you meet someone special and want to talk more?
To make a good impression on someone special, you need a conversation starter. The easiest way is to ask open-ended questions about them. First, find something that you have in common, then ask them questions. Open-ended questions are simple and nonthreatening, while they give you chances to show your own personality. For example, Have you ever tried yoga? It's safer than asking What do you think of me? You can also ask follow-up questions related to what they say.
Next time you go out, keep these tips in mind. Maybe you’ll make a friend or even find your soulmate.
